50 Complaints Over Bondi

Funny the kind of things that you feel proud about isn't it - I've just got home from Djing at Matt's birthday party over in Bondi... just a couple of hours of funk & soul out in the backyard, good crowd, lots of drinking, dancing and quite a few friends there. Around 12.15 we get a visit from the police, and an order to shut the music off completely, and get all the people into the house. Not even a 'turn it down a bit', just off - turns about that there had been fifty complaints about the noise, not even like we were using a huge rig, and I never even turned the master volume up over half way all night. Thinking about it, every house party I've ever played in Sydney has been busted by the police or rangers, and that's a lot of parties. However I'm quite proud of getting 50 complaints, especially is supposedly bohemian Bondi,at Xmas!
Maybe that could be my new DJ name 50c!

Roll Away The Stones

just a very quick one to say hi! please forgive the slightly impersonal tone of this spam email, be sure i was thinking only of you whilst i was writing it :-) heh heh!

anyway I was in and out of hospital this week, i went in with and left without my gall bladder - i did try to get to keep the stones in a little jar, but when i asked they looked at me as if i was some kind of barking mad lunatic... so there's goes everybody's xmas presents this year, damn would have been so personal as well - 'everytime you go away, you leave a piece of me with you'

actually it wasn't that bad, was only in hospital for one night and got some good drugs - actually i felt quite guilty for being such a chicken - especially when the poor kid in the bed across from me, had been carved up by a psycho with a kitchen knife. His four huge scars, made my little holes look like shaving nicks... So with the offending gallstones removed I should now be able to go back to my usual diet of fried bread, bacon, black pudding and lard, with a side order of pizza and pints of full-fat milk or maybe not.

It's going to be a little while until I'm totally 100% again, so no break dancing for a month, and I'll have to treat the beer with moderation [whimper], only problem is that the shape of my belly button seems to have changed [that's where the camera went in], well it's not how I remember it and I've lived with the thing for 45 bloody years.

Anyway thanks to everybody who wished me well, texted, sent me balloons and came to visit.

Hasta Luego

Roger

Longrain - 021204 - Setlist

Well I did promise that I would finally get around to keeping a record of my set at Longrain, so as I won't be able be there next week (9th Dec) as the surgeons at St. Vincents are beckoning, I kept a set list from tonight. I don't really expect the casual reader to be very interested, it's really just for my own records - but a quick glance through will show you that it was a pretty eclectic 3 and a half hours. Jazz, Latin, Blues, Reggae, Funk & Hip Hop, you'll find it all in there somewhere, along with an excessive amount of Quantic Soul Orchestra (probably in honour of their awesome live show at Sydney's Gaelic Club last Saturday night).
